Corsets do more than smoothing out fat rolls on your back. They also support the many layers that are ment to be worn under clothing of the 19th century. They also support the back very nicely. The neatest advantage I have found is that when I wrap my apron ties around behind and tie them in the front, I can carry a full load of fire wood!
